Well, it took 241 activations before I had this problem but I got it today.
I had a minor pileup for a few minutes. As usual, two or three are zero beating me. I get one station off my frequency, I hear P2P, I work that station even though it’s pretty faint and one hunter keeps sending his callsign, so it takes me a bunch of repeats to close the deal.
Next up, I get KL7AC, again not zero beat but pretty faint. I work him, this one guy is acting like I’ve sent his callsign instead of KL7AC.
So I finish with KL7AC, call CQ, this guy just goes key down. At first, I thought it was someone tuning up on frequency, but after 60 seconds I figure out someone’s pissed at me and is jamming me.
I understand that hunters get frustrated when they don’t get picked out of the pileup. I understand that my practice of working weaker stations and P2P stations first means often hunters hear me working someone but can’t hear the station I’m working, and that can lead to frustration and confusion especially with someone whose CW skills are not quite up to the task.
But I hadn’t had anyone deliberately try to keep me from operating. I don’t really understand the motivation.
