Pack Mule

I was on Eric N1JUR’s podcast this week, he graciously let me talk for nearly 90 minutes about what’s going on at POTA News & Reviews.

A big piece was about the Pack Mule award. I just wanted to share this video from KD9NJJ. He’s exceited and committed to going for the Mule.

Official rules are up, thanks for everyone who contributed!

Scott @kn3a had a good point, what if you visit a park, do the 22, and then later in the same day go back and do another hike and another 22? Two activations?

The intent is to parallel the OG POTA awards that use a UTC day as the window for an activation, I think it makes sense to add that clarification unless someone has a reason not to…

Another good question from a recent podcast:

What about parks that are really tiny? I can think of several parks down in RI that require a vertical to make sure the ‘all equipment in the park’ rule is satisfied. I guess you could park your car half a mile away and just walk to the location, that would satisfy the Pack Mule rule even though you are in an urban environment.

Honestly, a lot of these ‘parks’ shouldn’t be in the POTA program at all, but I’m certainly not going to try to figure out which parks are real and which aren’t in regard to the Mule.
