Uploading logs to POTA app from a mobile phone....my problem solved!

My preferred method of uploading logs after a POTA activation would be to upload my log from PoLo to Dropbox and then upload from Dropbox to POTA app…this always failed with the message about “network security…” it did work once or twice but never consistently, I would have to wait til I got home and upload from my laptop.

I’ve seen many posts suggesting why this happens and what tweaks to make to the phone’s settings, none of which seemed to work for me.

I found that using Dropbox as the repository for my logs was the problem (Google Drive is similar)

I just needed to export my PoLo log to the phone’s local file manager and upload to POTA app from there. This has resulted in a perfect upload every time.

Thanks are due to Bob N4REE for some vital pointers

Hope this helps.

Excellent, thanks Steve for sharing. I will have to try that when I need another method to upload my logs. I currently log using Ham2k portable logger in the field then when I am on the WiFi at home upload manually on the POTA site.

That’s what I do, too. I wonder why there’s an issue with storage services like Dropbox?

My dream is for PoLo to have a ‘send to POTA’ button for logs.
